At her best when surrounded by plants and sitting on a sunny step with a neighbourhood cat, Jill Price is a cis, white settler of German, Scottish, Welsh, and unknown Ashkenazi descent grateful to be living, working, and playing on the traditional territory of the Anishinaabeg people in Barrie, Ontario. An award winning artist, curator, educator and scholar, Price received a BFA and B.Ed. at Western University,  and completed an MFA in Interdisciplinary Art Media and Design at OCAD University in Toronto, Ontario, where she was the recipient of a 2016 SSHRC research grant, a 2017 Michael Smith Foreign Study Bursary, and the 2017 Research and Writing Award for her thesis Land as Archive: A Collection of Seen and Unseen Shadows. Also awarded the 2018 /2019 Faculty of Arts and Science Dean’s Award for Environmental Justice at Queen’s University, Price recently completed a SSHRC Research-Creation PhD in Cultural Studies in which the award-winning artist and scholar framed her research and practice amidst theories of de-alienation, new materialism, degrowth, and decolonization to explore how methods of speculation, deconstruction, abstraction, and performativity can offer artists an UN/making Methodology to move beyond global economic systems of mass extraction, production, dissemination, and discard that continue to displace, disregard, and decimate human and more-than-human ontographies both at home and abroad.

Founder of the UN/making Network, Price balances her interdisciplinary praxis with independent curating and writing to draw attention to the material entanglements between physical and psychological realms to inspire or carry out acts of care and repair.
